The artist note:

This painting is part of the Nostalgia exhibition, in which I explored visual interpretations of several musical modes and Andalusian muwashahat. This particular work embodies the song “Ya bahjat alrouh” Music by Sayed Darwish and singing by the great Syrian singer Sabah Eakhri on Kourd maqam

The lyrics are as follows:

Oh joy of my soul, come to me with union

This heart is wounded and there is no hope

How can you leave me while my heart desires you?

After you've gone, it's driving me insane, allow me to reunite with you

Bring the cup of comfort and pour the goblets

Your beauty is so clear, it has no comparison
